December 2018 marked the 12 month anniversary of me selling my company and was the beginning of my 2 months sick leave (my first ever episode of sickness in my whole career).
It’s safe to say that 12 months ago tomorrow I was at an all time low and knew that A LOT had to change. So it did.
From the 30th December 2018 until early March 2019 I was signed off (unpaid as I work for myself) with work related stress in addition to “tummy issues” with the prescribed GTN treatment meaning I had horrid migraines twice per day.
I’ve made (and undone) a lot of changes over the past 12 months to strike a better balance and my physical health; family life and business health couldn’t be better.
Improving my sleep (says the guy who’s about to embark on baby number 4 ??????) – well at least not working on my phone in bed anymore; my diet; listening to a lot of inspirational and interesting audiobooks whilst commuting; joining a (paid) Facebook group with like minded entrepreneurs (Expresso With Dan) and exercising more regularly have all played a big part in making me feel a hell of a lot better.
What are my targets for 2020:
- To continue to work a maximum 4 days per week and spend the rest with my family.
- To continue to ‘do the school run’ at least 2 mornings and 2 afternoons per week.
- To complete at least 100 x EHCP / SEN Speech & Language Therapy assessments across the UK and attend SEN Tribunals where the LA doesn’t concede before the date.
- To complete at least 10 x pro bona Speech & Language Therapy assessments.
- From competing in my first INVNCBL (https://invncbl.co.uk/) race in September 2019 I aim to complete the whole INVNCBL season and place in the Top 10 for my wave in each.
- To continue to reduce my carbon footprint by driving my 100% electric car where it’s feasible.
- To focus on my social media presence across Instagram; LinkedIn and Facebook – building on my personal brand so that the families who I can help know how to access me.
